It looks like they have having regular track maintenance every weekend for British Rail. This caught me by surprise but they had an adapted van instead of the bus service for their disabled travellers. Unfortunately it was a long wait till they turn up. I was hoping to get to Birmingham for lunch but we did not really arrive till nearly 3 pm.
I was starving and then stuffed myself so much that I felt really dozy when Naomi went off shopping. Maybe it was the heat but in the end I took myself to St Martin's church to have a quiet snooze -out from the madding crowd.
On the way back, the driver couldn't figure out how to work the lift and couldn't get the van to go. We waited 45 minutes while Naomi help him read the instructions- it seems like he had never work the machinery before. In the end he managed to get it to work but I was a bit fed up by it all. I shall try not to travel on a weekend if possible.
I've started going to church again. St Mary and St Benedict in Raglan Street, the parish priest is also the University's chaplain. The 11.30 am Sunday mass seems cosmopolitan - but the service is not difficult to follow if they gave better instuctions on hymm numbers.
